Use Image to Searchable PDF online

Create a PDF that keeps the scanned image as the visible page while adding an OCR text layer for search and text selection.

Use this path when preserving the page as a document matters more than receiving plain text alone. NetroDoc validates the JPG or PNG, builds the PDF, runs OCR, and returns a separate searchable PDF download.

What happens during processing?

Image to Searchable PDF keeps the source image as the visible page and adds OCR-derived text so supported PDF viewers can search or select recognized words.

The OCR path supports English, Dutch, Arabic, German, French, Spanish, and Portuguese. Recognition quality still depends on sharpness, contrast, orientation, language choice, and print quality.

Searchability is not the same as perfect transcription or an editable Word layout. If copied text matters, verify names, dates, amounts, and identifiers against the visible page.

When is this tool useful?

Search scanned pages

Turn a photographed or scanned page into a PDF where recognized words can be searched without discarding the page image.

Build a searchable archive

Store scans as PDFs that remain visually recognizable while gaining an OCR text layer for later retrieval.

Select text while keeping context

Copy recognized passages from a PDF while still seeing the original scan for visual verification.

Share a document-shaped result

Use a searchable PDF when recipients need a page-based file rather than a plain TXT transcription.

Temporary and private processing

The uploaded file is processed in a temporary server workspace. The current pipeline does not intentionally send it to an external conversion or cloud API.

Temporary job files are removed by the application workflow after completion or failure. No NetroDoc account is required.

Image to Searchable PDF FAQ

Does the PDF still show the original scan?

The visible PDF page remains based on the uploaded image while OCR adds a searchable text layer behind or alongside the visible content.

Is a searchable PDF the same as an editable Word file?

No. OCR adds recognized text for search and selection, but it does not reconstruct the page as an editable Word layout.

Which OCR languages are available?

English, Dutch, Arabic, German, French, Spanish, and Portuguese are available in the current OCR language set.

Why can selected text differ from the visible page?

The visible scan and the OCR text layer are different representations. Recognition errors can occur, so verify important copied text against the page image.

Where is my file processed?

It is processed in a temporary workspace on the NetroDoc server and is not intentionally sent to a third-party conversion API.
