Transparency and metadata

JPG cannot preserve transparency and flattens transparent pixels onto white. PNG/WEBP can preserve alpha. Metadata is removed only when requested; otherwise EXIF/ICC is retained when the target format supports it.

File size

Compression or format conversion can make a file smaller, unchanged, or larger. The CSV report records before/after sizes instead of promising a reduction.
